Depending on your 12/16/07 average and how well you bowled at the Minnesota Singles State Finals in Fridley, you could be

eligible for an award from USBC Youth. Go to http://www.bowl.com/awards/main.aspx and open the PDF file named "Special

Achievement" to see a list of USBC Youth awards you may be eligible for. The tournament's 2007-08 certification # is 1145.

For this tournament, a bowler's division is determined by what their average was at the time of in-house qualifying. For most, that was back in October. Bowlers do not change divisions at any time during the remainder of the tournament. All bowlers used their11/4/07 average at the district level and their 12/16/07 average at the state level.

 

The scholarships payouts for bowlers in all divisions (except for the post high school divisions):

1st - $500        2nd - $350        3rd - $225        4th - $175        5th - $150       6th - $125    7th - $100        8th - $75        9th - $50        10th - $50

 

The scholarship payouts for bowlers in the post high school divisions:

1st - $400        2nd - $250        3rd - $150         4th - $50          5th - $50

v     This tournament can be run by any bowling center that is a member in good standing of the Bowling Proprietors Association of Minnesota.

 

v     Bowling centers do not have to pay a participation fee to run this tournament.

 

v     Qualifying is typically done during youth leagues, but special qualifiers can be run in absence of organized leagues.

 

v     There is $16,200 in scholarships available at the State Finals. The BPAM believes this is one of the country’s highest

        (if not the highest) paying scholarship tournaments at the state/local level.  

 

v     Time Frame: House Qualifying can take place 1-3 weeks between October 8, 2007 & November 4, 2007

 

v     This is an average bracket tournament where boys and girls compete with each other.

 

v     Entry fee is $23.00 per bowler (covers the cost of bowling at all three levels of the tournament)

v     This tournament has three levels: house qualifying, district roll-offs & State Finals 

 

v     Advancement ratio from the house level to the district level is 1:4 in each of the nine (10) divisions.

 

v     Handicap is 90% of the difference between the bowlers average and 210

 

v     This tournament has a USBC Youth moral sanction. The tournament is sanctioned, but bowlers need not be to participate.

 

v     2007-08 State Finals to be in January of 2008 at AMF Maple Lanes in Fridley, MN.
